In January of 2000, Ty made a somewhat
unexpected announcement. The Ty Classic line was introduced. While the The
Ty Plush line was discontinued. The Ty Classic line is much like a regular
line of "stuffed animals", except, they like the Ty Plush hold
the realism, quality and really loveable qualities that is Ty, Inc. This
line with its first 21 members are all retail priced at 20.00. All of the
old plush categories are included except farm animals. The bears include,
Bamboo, a previous used name in the old Ty plush line, Belvedere,
Broderick, Lilacbeary, Taffybeary, Yesterbear brown, Yesterbear cream and
Yesterbear gold. The jungle animals include Dash the tiger, Dot the
leopard, Jake the monkey. Jake has been used many times in the plush line.
Serengeti is a zebra. The dogs include Duster, Scooter, and Toffee. Toffee
was also an old Ty Plush but this dog as well as Scooter (an old Attic
Treasure's name) have a fabric like the Beanies, Wallace, Groovy and Fuzz.
This and their overall looks distinguish them from their previous
namesakes. Duster has the regular "stuffed animal" fabric but is
in no way regular. He is the shaggiest dog you have ever seen. He is too
cute. The cats include Mystery, Prissy, Shadow, Stretch and Smokey. Shadow
and Prissy are of the same style but different colors. Shadow was also a
previous Ty Plush cat. Stretch was an old Ty plush that was a brown
similiar to the Beanie Nip. This new Stretch has the old shape of Plush
Stretch but is a striped cat. Smokey was a name used before as well. This
new Ty Classic cat Smokey has the flat fuzzy style used in the Plush line.
Our one wildlife creature is Peter and yes there have been a few other
Peters before. Now is the time to begin collecting the Ty Classics. They
are available, beautiful and you can start at the beginning of a new line.
Enjoy and have fun with the Ty Classics.
