Mystic Style Changes

Did you know Mystic, the unicorn, style #4007, has actually had three changes?

Mystic the mythological Beanie originally was introduced in mid 1994 with a tan horn. There has been much discussion regarding her coarse yarn and fine yarn. The yarn used on the majority of these adorable little critters is a coarse yarn. Many of the fine yarn Mystics are hidden away in collections. Be skeptical if a dealer has hundreds of these fine mane Mystics for sale. Impossible-- they are all adored by old time collectors. You may occasionally see one or two for sale but not often!!

Interestingly in late 1996, some unauthorizied artists were redesigning the horn and using Magic the dragon’s wing fabric to make an irridescent horn. During that time this was not an authorizied Ty Company redesign but average people deciding to charge big bucks for the special Mystic they had unofficially redesigned. This is the reason for so much confusion regarding the unicorn.

In November, 1997, the Ty Company did in fact officially redesign the horn and she appeared in authorizied stores that carry Ty products. Mystic with the irridescent horn can be found with the 4th and the new 5th generation Ty tags!! Sparkles, style number 8100, a 20 inch Ty plush, made her debut in the 1997 Ty catalogue and makes a perfect Mother for Mystic.

A unicorn was born one day in May
