Echo, the Dolphin, style #4180, is a marine mammal resembling a small whale, with a head elongated into a beak like snout. A few Echo's and Wave's snuck out of the Ty Nursery prior to the official announcement on May 11, 1997. These original Beanies are reversed with their tags ie; Echo is wearing Waves' tags and Waves is wearing Echo's tags. The Ty Company has corrected the Beanies .There are a few lucky owners of the mistagged dolphin and whale, the November price rang is $35.00 - $50.00! Also, both the Ty swing tag and body tags are in error on these Beanies. I would highly recommend that you find these Beanies because they are rare! To eliminate any confusion, Echo does have a beaklike snout and shares the same fabric with: Crunch, the shark, style #4084, Lefty, the donkey, style #4085 and Scoop, the pelican, style #4107. This blue grey fabric was first introduced in mid-1996.

Waves, the Whale, style #4084, is an extraordinarily impressive replacement for Splash the retired whale. Both Waves and Echo have been created to lay on their dorsal fins. This is a new design from Mr. Ty!! Waves is also black with a white belly similar to Splash, however, I like Waves a lot more. Another new, May-1997 released Beanie, Jolly the Walrus, style #4082, has the same curved body.
