Flash,
style #4021, is one of the first nine Beanies designed by Mr. Ty Warner.
This marine mammal was retired on May 11, 1997. He, along with Splash,
style #4022, also one of the first Beanies, both left the warm and
temperate sea and swam back to the Ty Company. This dolphin and whale are
very special because they wore all four swing tags! They also have had the
two red ink body (tush) tags and the black ink body (tush) tags. On many
third generation Ty tags, Flash is spelled "Fiash". The black
eyes are often time smaller too! Just a fun fact for the more
sophisticated collectors. His fabric is grey like Manny and other Babies.
Flash, the Dolphin's birth date is: 05/13/93
You know dolphins are a smart breed
Our friend Flash knows how to read
Splash the whale is the one who taught her
Although reading is difficult under the water!
Splash, the Beanie Baby whale, is not very large like most whales but he is an air breathing marine mammal with a fishlike body. Our retired Splash is black and also has the white belly like Flash.
Splash the Whale's birth date is: 07/08/93
Splash loved to jump and dive
He's the fastest whale alive
He always wins the 100 yard dash
With a victory jump he'll make a splash!
These two Beanies are very special because they were the very first Babies of the Original Ty Collection to be retired without sharing a style # with a replacement Beanie. Their replacements are Echo and Waves, however they have different style numbers. In the next article, I will discuss our new whale and dolphin to join the adorable Beanie Baby Collection!
