It is a known fact that Ty has produced many domestic cats. The most current with the fourth generation Ty (poem) tags. Ty introduced the first Zip, style # 4004, and Nip, style # 4003 in late 1994. The white and black ink body or sewn in tags indicate that time frame. These original cats were much larger featuring a white upside down triangle which begins above the nose and covers their entire belly. Their paws were body color. These early cats had only the second and third generation Ty tags. Both these cats have the pink ears, nose and whiskers. The body size was the size of Spot. Also they did not have the later green or gold eyes, but smaller and black. They were retired in 1995 and their present value in November, 1997 is $250.00 - $300.00.
Then
Ty came out with by far the rarest of the cats! The style numbers stayed
the same but the body of both Nip and Zip became one solid color with the
exception of the ears which remained pink on the inside. The body of the
cats became smaller, the size of the current Snip, style # 4120, the
Siamese cat, who was introduced in January 1997 and Chip, style # 4121 the
calico cat, who was introduced in May 1997. The paws of these very rare
little critters was the same as the body. Their wiskers were pink, not
white as in the current Nip and Zip. The all black Zip and all gold Nip
has only the third generation Ty tags and the white/black sewn in tags.
These solid cats were introduced and retired in 1995. The current white
pawed Nip, and Zip along with the (October 1997 retired) all white Flip,
style # 4012, were all introduced in 1996!! The November 1997 price range
of the all gold Nip is $750.00 - $900.00 and the all black Zip is
$1,200.00 - $1,400.00. Flip is selling in the $35.00 - $50.00 range at the
present time!!
With the introduction of Flip in 1996 several changes were introduced with Nip and Zip. The inside of the ears became white as were the whiskers. The white Flip got the pink ears and whiskers. She also received the blue eyes along with Snip. All the cats have the pink nose except for Snip she has a black nose and has brown whiskers! Nip, Zip and Flip were all introduced with the third generation Ty tags and also wear the fourth (poem) generation Ty tags. Chip and Snip only wear the fourth generation Ty (poem) tags at this time!!
